Here is the list of the top things that should be in your baggage when you are flying to India. It is not a necessity to bring everything in the list to India. India is a bursting market and you can find numerous things of this list in the shops of the city and, some are mandatory from home.
- Travel insurance of your choice is necessary along with other travel documents like Visa, passport and others. India is the destination for medical tourism. This doesn’t mean that the service comes cheap. Moreover, travel insurance will cover much more than just tainted health. Lost baggage, theft and other catastrophic situations will be covered by your insurance.
- If you were planning to visit rural regions of the country, any form of portable water purification system would be good like personal water filter, charcoal tablets and so on. Alternatively, you could just buy bottled water and carry with you, throughout the vacation.
- The power supply of India is quite different from your home and thus, it could fry your motherboard within seconds. Thus, it is recommended to buy quality power adapters.
- Mosquitoes and other insects are quite common in India. If you are someone who would wander into nature paradises or rural regions, it is better to bring any brand of mosquito or insect repellent with you.
- Are you visiting India in summer, dehydration is quite common. Your bottled water would do very little when it comes to hydrating you, while you are in the verge of dehydration. Back a batch of electrolytes sachets with you.
- If you could get hold of a favorable international package for your phone and internet usage, it is better to choose it. Alternatively, you can buy a SIM after entering India. Either way, it is better to download maps in your phone. If you are the no-smartphone guy, it is better to carry maps of National Geographic or other quality brands.
- India is coming up in its sanitation field. It could take a while until you can be sure of the safety of each toilet in the country. Thus, carry toilet paper, hand-sanitizer, toilet seat cover and tissues. Some prefer wet wipes to tissue.
- Dust mask, caps or other face covers to protect you from the pollution and dry hot winds.
- You must know about what to wear in India. If you are visiting in winter, bring light jackets. If you are choosing summer, carry sunscreen lotions, caps, sunglasses and cotton clothing. If you are visiting in monsoon, pack waterproof shoes and rain jacket. If not, pack an umbrella.
- If you are prone to certain infection, it is better to bring those medicines with you. In addition, bring medication for cold, diarrhea and flu, just in case. Not every brand of medicine you find at home would be available in India. So, it is better to be prepared.
