The autumn season is one of the most enjoyable times of the year. While the weather is getting colder, the nighttime darkness is coming earlier, and the leaves are changing colors and falling from the trees, people are rejoicing about the beautiful season. The fall is a time for delicious food, exciting activities, and fun for people of all ages! One of the most enjoyable parts of autumn is the joyous holiday of Thanksgiving. This holiday celebrates American heritage by remembering the nation’s founding through merriment, thankfulness, and of course, delicious food. As a teacher, it is important to discuss Thanksgiving with your students and to make sure that they understand its importance within American tradition. When preparing your students for Thanksgiving, it is imperative that you decorate your classroom for Turkey Day! There is a myriad of ways in which you can go about decorating your classroom for Thanksgiving. A few of these helpful tips are listed below:
Create Wall Decorations While there are tons of ways to decorate and personalize your classroom during the school year, during a holiday time, it is important that teachers go above and beyond. Holidays, especially Thanksgiving, are excellent times for teachers and students alike to show their creativity skills. Creating wall decorations is an incredible way not only for teachers to show students that they care about them by taking the time to decorate, but it is also a great opportunity for students to create art projects to hang on the walls of the classroom! Teachers can get supplies like construction paper, markers, scissors and others, in order to create some fun and exciting projects like hand turkeys, leaf collages, and so much more! When these projects are hung up on the wall, not only will students be reminded of the festive holiday season, but they will also feel pride in their accomplishments that are being displayed prominently throughout the school.
Utilize a Fall Color Palate When deciding to decorate for the fall season, it is important to take color palate into consideration. Every season is associated with different types of colors, and as many people are aware, the fall color palate is quite beautiful. Reds, browns, oranges, yellows and similar shades are the best to utilize when creating your Thanksgiving decorations. While blues and greens are attractive, just take a peek outside and you will realize that they are not nearly as prevalent as the previously mentioned colors in the fall season! Be aware of how you decorate and what colors you use in order to truly maximize the potential beauty for your classroom!
Final Thoughts Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday that people all over the United States enjoy celebrating with their friends and family. As a teacher, it is imperative that you know how to properly decorate your classroom for this joyous holiday. As long as you remember to create wall decorations with your students as well as utilize a fall color palate, you are sure to have the most riveting classroom this Thanksgiving season!
